Retreat Theme 2012 – “ALL DAY GOD, EVERYDAY”
One of my favourite things in life is the “all-day breakfast” menu. The feel of “leisure and time is aplenty, enjoy each other’s company, savor and sip life, no need to hurry” makes me relax. I can relish what’s before me in the presence of my companions as well as the nourishment of food. I can live in the present moment. I can stop dwelling in the past. I can stop worrying about the future. I can just be. Here and now. In the “sacrament of the present moment” I can know God through all that’s around me and within me through the fellowship and the food-ship. I can drink and eat God, I am “living and breathing God”! I am in Communion – as I take and eat!
Why become more aware and conscious of God only during the sacred events of Advent and Easter seasons of the Church Calendar or during religious meetings and weekend Worship Services when we can have more of God in the everyday of the Ordinary Time!? This is the all-season to cultivate more mindfulness and awareness of God, to practise the Presence of God, to see everything in God and God in everything, everywhere and every-day, whether one is awake or asleep.
“He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.” (John 1:9,10) God moved into our neighbourhood and we didn’t even notice, we couldn’t even recognise Him! Will we stop to notice God? Will we truly desire to see God everywhere and in every way? Will we ask for this grace to want more of God in our everyday life? Will we wake up to an “all-day God, everyday” of our life? Will we take time to enjoy our Constant Companion, unhurriedly relish the Heavenly Bread and take time to savor and sip this Abundant Life in Christ? |
